5. THE ROERO CLIFFS (ROCCHE)
The Roero area is less well known than the Langhe and Monferrato. Located on the left bank of the Tanaro River, north of Alba, it preserves an unspoilt environment where wooded hills alternate with vineyards. The landscape is shaped by the rocche: dramatic cliffs, ravines and rocky walls emerging from the vegetation.
To explore this unique scenery, we recommend a hike along part of the Great Roero Trail, which follows the geological fault line from Bra to Cisterna d'Asti. This is the best way to immerse yourself in a wild, unspoiled landscape, especially around the famous Pocapaglia cliffs, and then reach Govone Castle, whose park is filled with wild tulips in spring.
